My Holiday

April 2007 I travelled to Curaçao where I stay at a hotel for a week and dived there. I brought no camera with me so there is no footages of the underwaqter life here. In my opnion were the dives at Bonaire much better and more beautifull compared to the dives at Curaçao.

Curacao belongs to the Caribbean group of islands, which spans from the northern point of South America up to Florida, USA. This large island group is often referred to as the "West Indies" or the "Antilles" lies in the Caribean sea which is a part of the Atlantic ocean. The Country of Curaçao which includes the main island plus the small, uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao ("Little Curaçao"), is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherland.

The southern coast has calm waters. The coastline has bays and inlets.

The official languages are Dutch and Papiamentu. The most widely spoken language is Papiamentu, a creole language spoken in all levels of society.

Curaçao has a tropical savannah climate with a dry season from January to September and a wet season from October to December. The temperatures are relatively constant with small differences throughout the year. The trade winds bring cooling during the day and the same trade winds bring warming during the night. The coldest month is January with an average temperature of 26.5 °C (80 °F) and the warmest month is September with an average temperature of 28.9 °C (84 °F). The year's average maximum temperature is 31.2 °C (88 °F). The year's average minimum temperature is 25.3 °C (78 °F).

Diving conditions

Divers could easily check off many boxes on their wish lists with a single trip to Curacao. Calm conditions? Check. Good visibility? Check. Healthy reefs? Check. Macro life? Check. Unlimited shore diving? Well, let's just put it this way: the entire island is a shore diver's dream. During winter the water temperature can be quite cold, about 25 degrees C. From end of March the temperature rises to about 28, 29 degrees C and declines slowly in october.
